Did I experience devastation? Yes! Did I experience feeling lost, lonely, afraid, confused and clueless as to what my true purpose was? Yes! Did I know who I was, where I was going, or how to look upon myself or on the world? NO! Did I finally ask for help? Yes, when I couldn’t see any other alternative to the pain I was in! But my devastation followed a remarkable, incredible, no – words – for – it experience in 1988, when I knew and experienced who I am and who we really are. Many months later, when the deep peace of that “light” experience left my awareness, the pain is something I cannot describe. This began my quest for a continual recognition and resurrection of mind to the complete alternative, the inner peace and joy promised by A Course in Miracles for those who accept our wholeness, perfection and unity, our oneness with the grandeur and magnificence of one whole and perfect Creation.
“Who am I? What is my real purpose here? What happened to me? How can I recover that indescribable inner peace? Why is it gone now?” These questions sent me on a spiritual quest that included both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions and, many experiences later, a remarkable program of individual transformation, A Course in Miracles. Eventually, I landed in an association focused, in part, on the Course teachings. There, in the afternoons or evenings following sessions and classes, I began to write down free-flowing memories of the spirited sessions I had attended. This student notebook became the central focus for Ask Not the Sparrow, which may startle, confront and challenge some (who knows?) or provide moments of recognition of your own experience of ongoing transformation. The sessions in “Sparrow” highlight a way out of our human confusion and suffering, through A Course in Miracles, especially, its lessons in forgiveness.
“What could you want forgiveness cannot give? Do you want peace? Forgiveness offers it. Do you want happiness, a quiet mind, a certainty of purpose, and a sense of worth and beauty that transcends the world? Do you want care and safety, and the warmth of sure protection always? Do you want a quietness that cannot be disturbed, a gentleness that never can be hurt, a deep, abiding comfort, and a rest so perfect it can never be upset?
“All this forgiveness offers you and more. It sparkles on your eyes and you awake, and gives you joy with which to meet the day. It soothes your forehead while you sleep, and rests upon your eyelids so you see no dreams of fear and evil, malice and attack. And when you wake again, it offers you another day of happiness and peace. All this forgiveness offers you and more.”
On my own journey of transformation, life continues to be a moment-to-moment awakening and an ever-unfolding field of unlimited possibilities! Right now I am focusing on the time of “light” before my personal devastation when I experienced a voice dictating to me book-length spiritual messages which later I set aside, until now! Miracles and Messengers, Transforming Your Life now, is the first message. I intend to get five more published in the next year, between October 1st, 2014, and September 31st, 2015. Then one more, “Notes on Channeling,” in 2016, if it is meant to be. And I am experiencing total gratitude for the journey and for each moment of awakening to what our true purpose is.
